
Rev. Carol Hovis has been a leader in faith communities, nonprofits, and community organizing for 37 years. She received a B.A. in International Relations from Dickinson College, an M. Div. from Union Theological Seminary in NYC, a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction from San Francisco Theological Seminary, and Teacher Certification with The Narrative Enneagram (TNE).
With almost four decades of ministry experience, her significant contributions include: a lasting impact on a generation of youth, young adults & families at Providence Presbyterian Church, Fairfax, VA; the founding of an Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) affiliate in Marin County, CA; 9 years of co-leading reverse pilgrimages to Cuernavaca, Mexico; rebuilding the primary inter-religious institution, the Marin Interfaith Council (MIC) in Marin County, CA; and providing spiritual direction and enneagram education for hundreds of individuals, including religious leaders, groups, congregations, schools and nonprofits in Western & Piedmont North Carolina, Northern & Chesapeake VA, eastern Tennessee, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Carol and her husband, Chris Highland, author, teacher, and Humanist Celebrant, live in Asheville.
